Kenneth Lee Roberts' Obituary
Kenneth Lee Roberts, owner of Ken Roberts Menswear and long-time resident of North San Diego County, died unexpectedly on July 18, 2016 at the age of 85.
Ken was predeceased by his parents, Ken and Iola Mae Roberts; an older infant brother, also named Kenneth, his former wife, Jan Roberts; long time partner, Carolyn Hume and great-granddaughter, Madison Bohannan.
He is survived by his children, Anthony Swinsky, Randall Roberts, Ronald Roberts, Richard Roberts, Robyn Roberts, Rhonda Estep, 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Ken was born in Wichita, Kansas on October 19, 1930. His family moved to Escondido in 1942 where he attended Central School. Ken graduated from Escondido High School in 1947, served in the Air Force and was stationed overseas near Japan. In 1948 his parents opened Ken Roberts Menswear on Grand and Kalmia. In 1968, Ken became full-time owner and continued in business at 135 E. Grand Avenue until he retired in 2003. Ken enjoyed golf, dancing and travel with close friends.
A memorial service is scheduled for this Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 3:00 pm at the Alhiser-Comer Mortuary 225 S. Broadway Escondido, CA (760) 745-2162 with a reception following.
