I dont know where to begin to talk about our dear Kay. I have known her just about all of my life. She and my mom, Jan Bramlett, met while working at Pacific Telephone and became great friends. Kay, my mom, Nellie, Adra and many others used to get together for shopping, Santa Anita, parties and family gatherings. My family and Kay's family spent lots of time together including vacations at Lake Tahoe and we all felt like one big extended family. She shared her love of gardening, cooking, traveling and wine with my mom and dad and they used to celebrate her birthday over the 4th of July holiday for many years. She was always so much fun and so warm and welcoming to me and everyone. I feel lucky that I got to know her first as a friend of my parents and then later as a friend of mine. She always made me feel like part of the family and included me in family gatherings at the holidays.
She and my mom shared a really special bond that was so much fun to be around. They both grew up in big families so they had lots in common. When my mom was afflicted with early onset dementia, Kay was with her all the time helping her enjoy her life as much as she could. They still laughed and had fun. She was such a good friend to my mom, and to so many others in her life.
I will always remember her laugh, that would frequently end in tears of joy and her great sense of humor and love of life. She loved to have fun and she was always so much fun to be around. She was always such a gracious hostess and I was so happy to get to bring my wife and daughter to stay at her beautiful home in Escondido.
Kay was a real gem. I am so lucky to have had her in my life for so many years. I will miss her terribly but I will always keep her in my heart and in my thoughts. I send my love and deepest condolences to Lesley, Chris and all of her family.
