Juan Samala Jr.'s Obituary
Juan Samala, Jr. went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 15, 2023 at St. Mary's Hospital in Tucson, Arizona. He was born on June 11, 1933 to Juan Sr. and Natalia Samala in Honolulu, Hawaii. Juan graduated from high school in the Philippines. Two months later, on June 21, 1951, he joined the United States Army. Juan proudly served his country in the Vietnam and Korean wars. After 20 years of service from 1951-1971, Juan held the rank of Master Sergeant at retirement.
Juan married Virginia Samala in July of 1987. Together they had two sons. Seth Manuel and Juan Jonathan. Juan also had seven other children before starting his life with Virgie.
Juan loved the Lord and he gave his life to Him wholeheartedly. Church and his church family were very important to him. He loved people and sharing scripture with them. Juan enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, camping, taking road trips and cooking for his family.
Juan was a kind and caring man who always showed concern for others, especially his family. He was also a very generous man and he enjoyed giving out silver coins to the children. He will be missed by all.
Juan is survived by his wife, Virginia Samala and his children, Bruno, Bonnie, Desiree, Ambrose, Natalia, Victoria, Seth and Juanito. He will join his son Michael in heaven. Juan is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren, three sisters, Eva, Cora and Rose and a Brother, Mario.
Services will take place on Friday, November 17, 2023 at Maranatha Chapel in San Diego, California. A private family viewing will start at 10:00 am. on the same day. A memorial service will begin at 10:45 am, followed by a burial service with military honors at Miramar National Cemetery. There will be a reception after the burial at Maranatha Chapel.
