Mr. Meier was preceded in death by his brother, Wilhem Meier, in 1986.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Janet Meier; daughter Centella Maria Jorgensen; son Gerard Joseph Meier; sisters Theresa Weber and Maria Vrana; brothers John Meier, Peter Meier and Paul Meier; six grandchildren. He was born in the Ukraine and lived in Escondido for nine years. He was a civil engineer for THUMS in Long Beach for 27 years. He was a member of the Church of the Resurrection and the Elks Club.
