John Russell Mason's Obituary
John is survived by his loving wife, Anna; his eight children, Yvonne Stuchell (David), Lori Bowen (Stephen), Daria Mason (Mike Buskirk), Lucia Mason, John Mason (Chris), Martine Zaun (Jim), Valerie Mason and Ann Mason; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret. John was born in Zannesville, Ohio to Hiram and Gladys Mason, he was the youngest of two children. He graduated from college in 1940 and was commissioned as a 2nd Liutenant in the Army Signal Corps, where he served in the South Pacific during WWII. Afte The couple moved to California in 1955, where John was one of 12 original government research engineers at Cubic Corporation in Point Loma. He retired from Cubic in 1982. The Mason's had eight children, and moved to Escondido in 1963. An active parishioner of St. Mary's Catholic Church, he was key in the restoration of the historic statue of the Blessed Virgin and her reinstallation in the church. John was a member of th In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the St. Mary's Building Fund.
