John Dean Schettler's Obituary
John is survived by his three daughters, Leanne Matzen, Barbara Schettler-Jehl, and Diana Dancz; and five grandchildren, Jason Matzen, Janne-Marie Jehl, Nicholas Jehl, Stephanie Dancz, and Scott Dancz. John was born in Stewartsville, Ind. He married Helen Marie Weiss on August 17, 1945 and resided primarily in Escondido. He spent his time doing what he enjoyed most - reading, gardening, listening to the fine music, stamp collecting, and traveling. Hi He then married Helen, earned his Masters at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff and his doctorate in Education at USC. He became the Assistant Superintendent of Issac School District in Phoenix, Arizona. In 1956, John took the position of assistan He had a love for travel, food, fine arts, crossword puzzles, gardening and of course, his family. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made in his name to: Palomar College Foundations, 1140 W. Mission Rd., San Marcos OR Escondido First United Methodist Church.
