John Christopher Wickliffe's Obituary
John Christopher Wickliffe, died Monday, April 20, 2026 in San Marcos, CA., John was 66 years young. He was born in Escondido, in October, 1959 and was the fourth son of Robert Wickliffe and Elizabeth Wickliffe. Growing up in Escondido during the 60’s and 70’s he and his older brother Jeff, who both had inquisitive and adventuresome spirits, spent many days exploring the natural and undeveloped areas of Escondido on their bicycles.
John graduated from Orange Glen High in 1978. He went on to work with his hometown newspaper the Times Advocate, as well as time at the Parks Department for the City of San Diego at Lake Hodges, and positions in the auto mechanic and landscaping fields. John enjoyed life and he and his older brother Tom spent a great deal of time together, as avid Charger football fans they lived and died each week by the teams’ results. John's first love was Sheri Newton and with that union a son was born John Philip Wickliffe in September of 1990.
John is preceded in death by his father Robert CM Wickliffe, mother Elizabeth G Wickliffe, and brother Robert Thomas Wickliffe. He is survived by his son JP Wickliffe of Chiloquin, Oregon, Paul Jeffrey Wickliffe and his wife Sue of Omaha, Nebraska and Steven Taylor Wickliffe of Anaconda, Montana. As well as many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 8th, 2026 at 2:00pm at Oak Hill Memorial Park for Family and friends.
