We will always miss Ome Jan! Like an uncle to me, he never had a bad word to say about anyone and was always smiling, welcoming, comforting and ready to give helpful lessons on gardening and just about anything else we needed help with. Much love to whole family, he will always be with us and close to our hearts.
I would see your father at church functions over the years. He was always so friendly and would like to talk about the kid's and grand kid's, how they were doing. Will miss seeing him around at functions. He was a wonderful man.
What a treasure. We first met John at Mike's & Britt's rehearsal dinner. He shared delightful memories of his wife and daughters, the Netherlands, coming to America and the struggles of starting anew. Think I may have embarrassed him (but in a good way) at Mike's & Britt's wedding by asking him to join the others in standing and being recognized for their service as Marines and Sailors. Secretly, I think he was pleased by the well deserved recognition. Only got to see him a few times after the wedding, but each time was memorable. He was friendly, inviting and had a terrific sense of humor. He will be missed by all, but most by his wife and immediate family. Our condolences.
