I met Jack in 1963 at Brevard Junior College, where we became good friends. In 1966 I was near graduation from Artillery OCS at Fort Sill and, as an upperclassman, encountered Jack as a lowly underclassman. That was fun. I adopted him as my OCS "little brother", and saw him every day until I graduated. I saw a mutual friend of ours, Phil Kimball, a few years ago, and he had also encountered Jack during military service. Jack was a fiercely patriotic American.
