JoAnn Gibbs' Obituary
She was born as the only child of John Robert and Mattye Lou Williamson on the 15th of February 1929. JoAnn Gibbs loved God from her youth. During the depression years, she was raised in the sawdust atmosphere of the cabinet shop of her grandfather and father. Those days of material shortages saw no lack of love or ambition for her during her tender upbringing. Growing up, she considered herself a tomboy who liked to climb trees. From those early years, she also fell in love with God's Word. She expressed her faith in Christ in baptism as a teenager.
During college years, she lived a full life of close friendships with many other young women, especially those who had been short of love in the past. Although she never joined a sorority, she was often elected to honor posts by her peers. When queried about this kind of popularity, she explained that she thought of herself as common, and that there were more common people than any other kind. Although she majored in music during her years at Abilene Christian University, her real love was teaching. Beginning in her high school years she delighted in teaching small children. During her adult years in the church she schooled several generation When her nest emptied, she turned her heart toward biblical counseling. She bathed her mind in the writings of others and honed her expertise in nursing the wounded. She expanded her motherhood to many others. During those years of multitasking, she al She is survived by three daughters, Philis Boultinghouse, Ruth Woodham, and Alesa Oliva.
