Jean Marches' Obituary
Passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 20, 2017 in Escondido, California. Born on March 5, 1921 in Hibbing, Minnesota, she was the daughter of Percy and Freda (Hodge) Webster. Jean was a 1939 graduate of Chisholm High School and went on to graduate from St. Cloud State University (formerly St. Cloud State Teachers College) in 1946. A passionate educator for 31 years, Jean taught at elementary schools in Keewatin, Minnesota, Duluth, Minnesota, College Park, Maryland and Gaithersburg, Maryland. She retired and relocated to Escondido, California in 1988.
Although Jean enjoyed her retirement life in California, she always remembered her roots in Chisholm and Hibbing, Minnesota. Ever active in artistic endeavors, Jean pursued her passion through cooking, baking, decorative sewing and embroidery, knitting and painting. She was a wonderful and loved aunt and great aunt to over 20 nieces and nephews. Even though she retired from the classroom, Jean continued to correspond and be a mentor and friend to many of her former elementary school pupils. Jean will be remembered and missed by those whose lives she touched with her charismatic personality, warm and loving nature, sense of humor and infectious laugh.
Jean is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Joseph R. Marches. She will be laid to rest in Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego, California. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donating in Jean’s memory to a charity of your choice.
