James Edward McGuigan, Jr.'s Obituary
He is survived by his wife, Esperanza; daughter, Lorena "Lorie" Rotner (Peter); grandchildren, Peter Rotner, Jr., John Rotner and Mathew Rotner; mother-n-law, Gerarda Salazar; sisters, Barbara Ford, Janice Bradley, Carole Weinmann and Holly McGuigan. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 to September, 1959, when he was honorably discharged. Therafter he continued to serve his country in the Navy reserve. Jim earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of Wichita, which is now part of the state university system of Kansas. He moved to California from Kansas in 1960. Later he earned a Master's degree in Social Work in 1970 from Fresn When he retired in February, 2000 he had worked as a social worker/counselor in such fields as child protective services, adult protective services and the prevention of domestic violence. He was proficient in English and spanish and used both languages Contributions in Jim's name may be made to the American Cancer Society.
