James “Jim†Reading's Obituary
James “Jim†Reading, 87, passed away at his Rancho Bernardo home on Friday, May 4, 2012. Jim was born on June 26, 1924 in Milwaukee, WI. He served in the 100th Army Infantry Division during WW II. Jim married Irene Kelley on May 24, 1944. Mr. Reading spent most of his professional career in the transit industry and was known as the “Father of Transit Marketingâ€. He also worked for Copley Press for many years. Jim was extremely active in the community, which led to him being inducted into the RB Hall of Fame. His accomplishments include being a past president of the Rotary Club of Rancho Bernardo, past president of the Spirit of the Fourth, past president of th He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Irene of Rancho Bernardo; children, Wendy (Pat) Allen of Poway, James (Carol) Reading, Christopher Reading, Mary (John) Obermeyer, and Kevin Reading (partner Jim Berwick) all of San Diego; sisters, Loretta T Visitation will begin at 12:15 p.m. on Friday, May 11, 2012 at San Rafael Catholic Church in Rancho Bernardo with the Funeral Mass to follow at 1 p.m. Reception details available at the church.
