Jack Edwin Saffell, 86
Jack Edwin Saffell, 86, of Escondido, California, passed away Friday, March 24, 2017, at Palomar Hospital. A celebration of his life service will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, April 3rd at Emmanuel Faith Community Church, 639 East 17th Avenue, Escondido, California, 92025. Pastor Greg Lane will be officiating, and a reception will immediately follow the service at the church.
Jack was born November 30, 1930 in Glencoe, Ohio to Delbert and Angelia (Kravanyo) Saffell. He graduated from Bellaire High School in 1948. He served in the United States Navy from 1948 to 1952. On July 9, 1950 he married Violet Mae Tripp. Jack was a well-known masonry contractor in Escondido. He enjoyed his work, and he retired in 2010. Jack was also well known in the community as a youth baseball and soccer coach, as well as a high school coach for girls softball and soccer. He was a devoted Rotarian and served as the club president. Jack also spent many years working as a youth pastor at the Four Square Church in Escondido, served on the Board of Regents of International Life Bible College, and was International President of CFM. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, spending time with his children and grandchildren, and was an avid fan of the Padres and Chargers.
Jack is survived by his wife, Violet, of Escondido, CA; three children, Pam (Carl) Swift of San Dimas, CA, Jack (Lori) Saffell of Escondido, CA, and Tim (Monica) Saffell of Temecula, CA; fifteen grandchildren, Tiffany, Jeremy, Justin, Christopher, Jason, Elyse, Candace, Ryan, Tyler, Jenny, Ryan, Austin, Ashley, Kaylyn, and Jacob; ten great grandchildren, Hudson, Coral, Jax, Owen, Hayden, Hunter, Holdyn, Paige, Randall, and Emma; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Jack was preceded in death by; his parents, Delbert and Angelia; his sisters, Lil Hudson and Kathleen Marovich; his brother Ernest Saffell; and his daughter, Kathleen Saffell.
