Jack Lehberg's Obituary
Jack Lehberg passed away peacefully at home on March 2, 2022. He was a man of many interests and activities, from enjoying family gatherings to traveling to Europe, Asia, and the Caribbean, bowling and shooting pool as a young man, playing the trumpet and ukulele, running track in high school, scuba diving, shell collecting and fishing. He relished good food and fine wine.
Fifty years ago, he moved the family from Altadena to Escondido and has been active in the Escondido community ever since. He was a past president of the Kiwanis Club and of Toastmasters. Jack was a member of St. Timothy's Catholic Church and The Assistance League of Inland North County (PALS), participating on the finance committee. He also administered a scholarship available to graduates of high schools in Escondido and Valley Center, a scholarship funded by his longtime friend and Escondido resident, Al Hubbard.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy, who he married 63 years ago and by his four children, Mike of Texas, Mark of Rancho Santa Fe, Mary-Lynn Hanner of Florida, and Monica Reitano of San Diego. He enjoyed visiting with his 8 grandkids and 1 great granddaughter. Jack was so proud of his family!
He was a native Californian, born in Long Beach. He attended Woodbury Business School and the University of California at Berkeley, leading to his career as a Certified Public Accountant. Jack truly enjoyed meeting with clients and sharing his tax expertise. He had a way of explaining money and tax issues, so all could understand, which endeared him to others.
His death will be celebrated on Saturday, March 26th at 3:30pm at AlhiserĀ Comer Mortuary in Escondido with a reception following.
