Irma Madeline Lucio's Obituary
Irma Madeline Lucio passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 7, 2025 at her home in Escondido, CA. She was 106 years old. She was born in Tulare, CA on October 9, 1918. She was a first generation American as her parents were immigrants from the Azore Island of Terceira. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband, Joseph, and two sons, James and Richard.
She is survived by her daughters, Chris (Jim), Mary and Kathy (Davey), and son, Danny, her 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren (2 more on the way) who will forever cherish her memory. Irma’s life was a testament to resilience and love, having lived through significant historical and personal milestones. Her warmth, wisdom, and unwavering faith touched the lives of so many. She was always there for everyone, family and friends. She was a devoted member of her community and church while raising 6 children and helping to run the Lucio Family Dairy in Pala, CA with her husband. She took great pride in that in all the years she did the accounting for the business there was never a tax audit.
Irma was known for her traditional Portuguese cooking, especially her famous holiday feasts, which brought family and friends together year after year. Every Easter she spent hours making Massa Sovada (Portuguese sweetbread). She took great pleasure in ensuring that family was her priority.
Irma's legacy is woven into the fabric of her family's lives, a testament to her enduring spirit and the love she so generously bestowed upon others.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Timothy’s Church or a charity of your choice in Irma's name. Her family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude for the love and support received during this difficult time.
