Irene Lucy Matkey's Obituary
Irene Matkey (Meronek) passed away Thursday evening Oct 28, 2021 at Palomar Medical Center in Escondido, Calif. She was 93. She was born and raised in Keene, Wisc. She moved to Milwaukee, WI after she married her husband, Chester Matkey. She worked for Sentry Ins for many years. She loved traveling. After retiring she would go around the United States and visit her children, always taking a different highway and seeing new things. She worked at McDonalds part time everywhere she went and loved meeting the people. She loved eating out at restaurants or stopping for fast food. And she loved going to the casino’s and playing the slot machines.
She was predeceased by : her parents Lucy (Rader) and Frank Meronek.; her husband Chester Matkey, her sons Rocky Matkey and Rex Matkey, and her brother Danny Meronek.
She is survived by : her children, James Matkey (Betty) of Wisc, Lucy Darling of CA, Jerry Matkey (Sujin) of CA, Michael Matkey of FL, Linda Zoellner (Don) of Wisc, Tim Matkey (Margaret) of TN and Sandy Seymour (Dan) of ILL and brother Leo Meronek (Barbara). She is also survived by many grandchildren and great and great great grandchildren. Also nephews, other relatives and friends.
There will be a private service at Andersonville Veterans Cemetery, GA where she will be buried with her husband
