Irene Davison's Obituary
Ruby Irene Davison, 89, had the sweetest smile that wrapped around those who knew her like a warm hug. She passed away June 23, 2023.
Even though she is already greatly missed by her friends and family, she left them with a lifetime full of love and memories. Irene fell in love with and married Phil, an avid fisherman, in 1957. And it must have been true love because she got seasick easily. Irene also loved to take care of people, so she turned lemons into lemonade - or in this case, fish into fish tacos - for one of her family’s favorite dishes.
Irene opened her home willingly to her children’s friends and filled bellies with chicken salad, orange Jello and a banana cake recipe she got from her mother. But her kindness and care also extended beyond the walls of her home. She was a Sunday school teacher and sang in the church choir at Acacia Avenue Baptist and later at Bible Baptist Church , where she even acted as the church’s secretary. Irene shared her talents in other ways, too, playing piano and teaching at South Bay Baptist Schools.
When she took time for herself, Irene read and kept her mind sharp with crossword puzzles and sudoku. She helped support her family working as a teacher and later at H&R Block for 20 years before retiring.
Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Lee Davison; her parents, Marvin and Arbie Rainey; and her sister, Maerene Hartman. She is survived by her children, Donna Hartman (Jeff), Dana MacDonald (Jerry), Lisa Prescott (John), and Angela Cook (Mike-deceased); 10 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren.
Services for Irene will be held on Friday, June 30, 2023, at Alhiser-Comer Mortuary, 225 S. Broadway, Escondido, CA 92025. The viewing is at 5 p.m., followed by a service at 6 p.m.
