Hugh "Brick" Young's Obituary
Hugh "Brick" Young passed away on Sunday, April 29, 2012, in Escondido. Brick was a lifelong Escondido resident. He was born to Thomas Young and Opal (Stull) Young November 7, 1926 in Orange, CA. Moving with his family to Escondido as a young boy, Brick attended Escondido High School where he played football. Brick met and Brick was a hard working and multitalented man. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy while still in high school and he proudly served his country on the USS Hogatt Bay Aircraft Carrier, located near Okinawa during the final days of WWII. Bricks love of God, family, country, and hard work was an inspiration to all who knew him. He proudly served as an Escondido History Docent for Escondido's Historical Society. He enjoyed leading walking tours through the historic streets and areas of Es Brick was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He is survived by his loving wife, Audrey; his son Scott (wife Kathie); grandchildren, Lindsey, Josh and Ashley; his sisters, Norma (Young) Boaz, and Mary Ann (Ruggles) Samson; and bro
