Helen A. Mendez's Obituary
Helen A. Mendez, 96, born and raised in Escondido, California peacefully passed away in the early morning on Sunday, December 1, 2013. She was born of American Indian descent on May 6, 1917 to the late Alex and Tomasa Alvarado.
She worked the majority of her life, employed as the Housekeeping Supervisor at Palomar Medical Hospital. She received a silver plaque for her twenty-five years of loyal dedication.
Children, Anna (Annie) Mendez Morales and Richard Mendez, along with his wife Joanne, survive Helen Mendez. Helen, alongside the late Frank Mendez, her husband and best friend, was a proud grandparent of 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
"As water reflects the face, so one's life reflects the heart," Proverbs 27:19. Helen reflected Christ with her humble attitude, selfless giving, and joyful smile towards not only family memebers but also everyone she encountered.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Sunday, December 15, 2013 at Alhiser-Comer Mortuary in Escondido with a Rosary at 7 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, December 16, 2013 at St. Mary's Church in Escondido with the Committal to follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park in Escondido.
