Harvey Beal Atkinson, Jr., 85, passed away peacefully at home on July 3, 2019 surrounded by his family. He was a beloved husband and father, patriot, good neighbor, and community volunteer. He will be missed by the many people who Read Obituary
Harvey was my boss for 10 years and a friend of mine for the rest of his life 30 plus years. I loved this man like a father. He had a calm and gentle way about him..always there to lend a hand or offer great advice. We always exchanged birthday calls in December....when there was no call in December my heart sank. The world needs more people like this man.
Harvey was a fellow Friend of the Escondido Library where he worked in The Book Shop for many years. He was always such a gentleman with a very kind smile for everyone. I will think of him often and I know he will be missed by all the Friends volunteers as well as many regular patrons of the Shop.

I am so sorry that I will be out of town on August 6. I would have liked to attend Harvey's service.
Harvey was a dedicated volunteer in the museum store. I've been a manager there for 2 and 1/2 years. Although I didn't see Harvey a lot because he worked on a day I had off, when I did see him, he was always gracious, friendly and eager to help. He even volunteered for extra hours when we were short-staffed.
We miss him here and I will especially miss him on the occasional Fridays I came in to work at the store. I enjoyed spending time with him.

Harv was a beloved member of the Palomar R/C Flyers, the largest Radio Control model aircraft and helicopter club in Southern California. His participation, in our many events held over the years, helped our club grow strong. Through most of that time, he served as treasurer, His dedication and love for the hobby and the club was unwavering. Smooth skies Harv...you are missed!
