Gerarda Fermina Salazar's Obituary
Gerarda Fermina Salazar died on February 2, 2021. She lived a long and full life and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Gerarda lived in Northern California most of her life. In 1979 she and her husband Baudelio (Bill) P. Salazar, (deceased in 1994), moved to Escondido, California.
She worked as a volunteer for five years at the Elizabeth Hospice Thrift Store in Escondido.
She was active at St. Mary’s Catholic Church for twenty years. She sang in the Hispanic choir. She was also a Eucharistic Minister who went to visit and take communion to the elderly and infirm. She also attended church at the Resurrection Catholic Church.
She dedicated her life to loving and nurturing her five-generation family. She is survived by her daughter - Esperanza Salazar McGuigan, granddaughter - Lorena Rotner, grandson-in-law - Peter Rotner, Sr., great- grandsons – Peter Rotner, Jr, John Rotner, Mathew Rotner, great-grandaughter-in-law - Mattilyn Rotner, three great-great-grandchildren - Kadynce Joy Rotner, Karsyn Hope Rotner and Julian Mark Rotner.
Flowers may be sent to Alhiser-Comer Mortuary, 225 S. Broadway, Escondido, CA 92025. Instead of sending flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetic Association in memory of Gerarda Salazar.
On Tuesday, February 16, a Rosary will be said for Mrs. Salazar at 10:30 a.m. and a mass will follow at 11 a.m. at Resurrection Catholic Church, 1445 Conway Dr., Escondido, CA 92027. The services will be held outdoors. A private burial at a North County Cemetery will follow.
