Genevieve Bee Green's Obituary
Genevieve Bee Green, born 3/21/37, past away peacefully on 4/23 /21 with her daughter by her side. Genevieve was known by those close to her as Jean Green from Valley Stream. Jean was born in Vineland, NJ and went to school in Penns Grove where she made many lifelong friends with whom she remained in contact until the end.Jean was married at a young age to Joseph Alestra, the love of her life, who passed away tragically, leaving her with two small children, Sandra and Joey. She was a professional model who's beauty continued to the end. Even while in hospice she attended to her hair and skin care. She owned a home in a quaint ocean town of Brigantine, nj and later re-married and had a third child, Michael Green. She moved to Long Island, ny where she raised her children while running her business, the village bread box. Jean was a strong willed woman who was filled with life. She loved her family, friends and even strangers. She was fun and always looked for a good time. She was passionate about food and went out of her way to cook elaborate meals for all occasions, big or small. She was very creative; No one could make a prettier platter. She enjoyed being part of her children's activities, broadway plays and weekend road trips, always loved to explore new things. She made life long friends in NY including the Billelo's, Dellamores, Jamgochian's and Catona's. In 1980 she moved to San Diego, CA where she started a new chapter. She sang in the church choir and was involved in charity. Jean worked for various companies including running a hickory farms store, ca juice company, orfilia vineyards and traveling trade shows where she would often sell out inventory in several hours. She could sell ice in winter. She loved sunny california-the seaport village, San Diego wild animal park, glen ivy hot springs, laguna and the casinos. What a blessing it was that she hit a jackpot on her last visit. Most of all she loved listening to live jazz music. Her favorite musicians were her dear friends Keith and Jose. Jean is preceded in death by her husband Joseph Alestra and "Mr Green" as well as her son's, Joseph Alestra and Michael Green. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Alestra of NY and Shelley Eckstein, her daughter in law. Jean will be mourned by her friends of 45 years, the entire Ponce De Leon family as well as the Balitza family, the Parker family, Mullen family as well as countless friends and family from coast to coast. There will be a viewing at Alhiser-Comer Mortuary on Sunday, April 25, 2021 from 1:30pm - 5:00pm, and Jean will later be laid to rest with her husband and two sons in Mulica Hill, NJ. A memorial will be held at a later date.
