Gary L. Williamson's Obituary
Gary Williamson was born on September 30, 1952, in Escondido, California and passed away surrounded by loved ones on January 15, 2018. He is survived by his wife of more than a decade, Mona Moreno Williamson. As a testament to his love for her, Gary left a handwritten letter entitled “Gary’s Last Thoughts” in which he wrote, “Mona I love you more than anything in my life. You turned on my light to everything I was missing. You showed me things I never would have seen on my own. You made me laugh, cry and be so happy.” True to his caring nature, he went on to encourage her, “Now don’t cry, be happy as you made me since I met you!”
Gary is also survived by a son, James and James’ wife Janie, of Jerome, Idaho; as well as by his mother, Mildred Barnard, his brother Gregory Williamson, his sister Roberta Williamson Cultrera and brother-in-law Mike Cultrera, his nephew Michael Cultrera, Michael’s wife Rashelle, their two children, Bella and Kaleena, as well as his niece Michele Cultrera Wong and her husband Brian Wong.
Gary was proceeded in death by siblings Donald, Donna, and Terry, and by his father, Vern Williamson.
An easy-going man, Gary was compassionate, helpful and kind. His passions in life included a love of NASCAR and trips to the desert to drive his dune buggy. No list of Gary’s loves would be complete without mentioning his affinity for Disney’s Goofy; he was an avid collector of the character’s memorabilia, which was a nod to his sense of humor and the side of him that was playful and forever young.
Gary will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
