Gale Vavra's Obituary
Gale Vavra passed away on October 21, 2022, after complications from a surgery. Though Gale’s death was heartbreaking, her family finds comfort knowing that she is at peace. Gale was an incredibly strong willed, kind, artistic, adventurous and loving wife, mother, grandmother. She lived every day in a healthy and positive way, “counting the blessings” of her life. Gale had many interests and passions but her
greatest love was family.
She lived in El Cajon with her husband of 62 years, Ron. They had three sons, Mark, Kurt and Jay. She always loved and was so proud of them (and their wives; Chris, Eileen and Jean) and six grandchildren; Maya, Ellis, Shea, Trajan, Faye and Evan. Spending time together as a family over the holidays, traveling, or just hanging out was perfect for Gale.
Gale worked as a librarian, volunteered regularly with Meals On Wheels, and registered people to vote. She was also a very accomplished artist and found great joy in painting. Gale was a great lover of travel and planned many trips for her family. All told, Gale traveled to over thirty countries, including such amazing places as Kenya and the Alaskan tundra but probably her favorite trip was a sabbatical leave with her family in Europe. It was the “trip of a lifetime”, living in a VW van for six months while visiting 13 countries.
Gale would wholeheartedly agree that “Life isn’t a matter of milestones but moments”. Her life was filled with many beautiful moments. All who knew this amazing woman will miss her dearly.
