Frederick "Freddie" Mandelbaum's Obituary
Frederick "Freddie" Mandelbaum, 97, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his Escondido home on Thursday, July 25, 2013 Freddie was born on August 6, 1915 in Manila, Philippines. He attended USC before returning in 1939 to the Philippines where he married Carmen Rickards on November 30, 1940. After surviving the WWII Japanese occupation, they moved to California. Mr. Mandelbaum was a credit manager with The William George Co., a division of Young's Market, for more than 30 years. The Mandelbaum's moved to Escondido in 1980. He served on the Board of Directors at Palomar Savings in Escondido for 15 years. He is survived by children, Carmen Lostetter Multhauf, and Frederick "Rick" Mandelbaum and his wife Margo; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous other family members. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carmen on November 7, 2012. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Freddie's favorite charity, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, www.stjude.org or the charity of your choice.
