Ernest Marvin Cassell's Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ernest (Ernie) M. Cassell on October 5th, 2020. He was born on June 28th, 1936 in Fremont, Nebraska to James and Velma Cassell. He graduated high school in 1954 where upon he enlisted in the US Navy in September of that year. He married his high school sweetheart, Vada E. Peterson on November 27th, 1954. His tour of duty consisted of two tours to the South Pacific aboard the Navy destroyer, U.S.S. Uhlmann (dd687). His final two years were spent at Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego, California, as a corpsman. After he left the service, he worked at General Dynamics in San Diego, California, as a fireman. In 1964, he went to work for San Diego Gas & Electric, as a Lineman. In 1975 he started his own business, Castle Appliance Sales and Service, of which he owned for 15 years.
He is predeceased by his parents, four brothers, and two sisters. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, his two daughters, Candis Hart and Connie (Ken) Harding of Escondido, CA., two Grandchildren, Ryan (Tiffany) Hart of Wildomar, CA and Shawna Hart of Escondido,CA , and two great grandchildren, Braydon and Rylin Hart of Wildomar, Ca. and his sister, Wilma Donahoo of Omaha, Nebraska.
Services will be held on October 15th, 2020 at 5-8pm at Alhiser- Comer Mortuary and a graveside service will be held on October 16th, 2020 at 10am at Oakhill Memorial Park. He was loved by all and will be truly missed.
