Ernest Amago's Obituary
Ernest Amago, 90, La Jolla Indian Reservation, CA, departed from this life unexpectedly to his eternal home, on Thursday, October 24, 2024. He was surrounded by his son Don, nieces and nephews, and
his great nephews. He was born on August 15, 1934, in Santa Jacinto, CA, to the late Ben Amago and Ruby Amago. Ernie attended Escondido High School, and then attended Palomar College. He was an avid baseball player in high school and college and continued in a travel league into his adult years. The Chargers and the Padres were his teams and he rarely missed a game. While attending Palomar College he decided to enlist into the United States Army. After serving he went into the grocery business and
while working at Big Bear in La Jolla, he met the love of his life Margaret White, and they were married in 1985. He retired from the grocery business and started working for the DMV where he finally
retired and moved to La Jolla Indian Reservation. Ernie’s kindness, outgoing personality, and quick wit gave him many friends throughout his life. Ernie’s church family was Valley Center Community Church. Although he is no longer with us he will never be forgotten and will be missed by all. Knowing he is reunited with his beloved wife Margaret, gives us all peace and comfort.
Ernie is survived by his son Don Amago, Mike (Rachel) White, Tina Hughes, Debbie White, grandchildren, and three generations of nieces and nephews.
Ernie is preceded in death by his loving wife Margaret, his parents Ben (Ruby) Amago, Viola (George) Peck, Ruth Chess, Edward (Connie) Amago, Benjamin Amago, and Ron (Verna) Amago.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Palomar Hospital for their kindness and compassion.
