Erhard "Ed" Thalmayer's Obituary
Ed Immigrated to the U.S. with his parents and two younger brothers in 1951, settling in Yucaipa, CA. After graduating from Redlands High School in 1955, he enrolled at UCLA but soon became involved in the concrete business. In 1958 Ed married his high school sweetheart, Susanne Gettle. Over the next 30 years his career would take him and his family to many different cities and states, as far as Pennsylvania and Washington. He and his wife and their two children finally set Ed retired as Vice President of Associated Concrete in 1995 to run his own business, Freeway Trailer Sales in Escondido. As avid R Vers, Freeway Trailer Sales was a good fit for Ed and Susanne. Always an active member in his community, Ed joined the Rotary Club in Henderson, Nev., in 1963 but later became a member of the La Mesa Rotary Club for the next 45 years. Ed leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Susanne; daughter, Tammy Allen of Valley Center; son, Tim Thalmayer of Pauma Valley; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother; and one sister.
