Elizabeth Koonce's Obituary
Elizabeth (Lourens) Koonce is survived by her husband of 63 years, Quinton Koonce; daughter Sharon (Koonce) Halverson; sons Quinton Lynn Koonce, Duane Koonce (Linda); Grandchildren, Quinton L. and Laura Koonce, Jamie and Dan Hume; Stephen and Christyn Halverson, Sondra and Ryan Goodwin, Joshua and Carolyn Koonce, Benjamin Koonce, Shara Halverson, Rebekah Koonce, and Jonathan Koonce.; Great grand-children, Anika Hume, Dylan Goodwin, Molly Hume. Elizabeth came to San Diego around 1944 and worked at the County Hospital. During that time she met Quinton Koonce (a Chief in the Navy) and they married on December 10, 1946. They attended the Christian Reformed Church in Alameda and later in San Diego Betty loved being a homemaker. There are fond memories of her birthday cakes, Christmas fudge, peanut brittle, date candy and almond pastries. She was a talented seamstress making doll clothes, puppets, knitted Christmas tree ornaments and more. More i She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren The family suggests memorial donations to the Rafiki Foundation, Inc. and mailed to P.O. Box 1988 Eustis FL 32727-1988.
