Edward Lloyd Anderson's Obituary
To all who knew Ed Anderson,
Our hearts are broken as we share the news that Edward Lloyd Anderson passed away unexpectedly but peacefully, entering into his eternal rest sometime during the night of March 26th-27th, 2025. While we grieve deeply the loss of the man who was our light, we are profoundly grateful for the years we had with him and find comfort in knowing he has been fully restored and glorified with God.
Ed's life purpose was clear: to share the love and message of Christ wherever God led him. This mission took him as far from home as Africa and India, sharing God's love with broken and contrite hearts, but as close to home as the freeway overpasses, where he offered the homeless both food and spiritual milk.
Like all of us, he faced trials and defeats – for him, these included chronic back pain, financial booms and busts, and profound personal loss. Yet his light never dimmed; instead, his exuberance remained contagious. He would be the first to testify this wasn't his own strength, but the power of the Holy Spirit working through him.
He loved Barbara deeply, and their bond, centered on their shared devotion to the Lord, was a cornerstone of his life. Watching his greatest creation, his son Jonathan, embody the fruit God promised him, alongside the blessings of Jonathan’s wife Jenn, and their three children, Jade, Kane, and Luke, was Ed's most solemn success.
We invite you to join us in honoring Ed and celebrating the incredible life he lived. His Memorial Service will be held:
Date: Monday, April 28th, 2025
Time: 10:00 AM
Location: Maranatha Chapel (Main Worship Center) 10752 Coastwood Road San Diego, CA 92127
A lunch reception will follow immediately after the service in the Fellowship Hall at the Chapel. We look forward to sharing fellowship and remembrance with all who knew and loved Ed.
Sharing Your Memories: As our family navigates this time, hearing your specific memories of Ed would be a tremendous blessing and comfort. If you feel led, please consider sharing a core memory (in written, audio, or video form) by sending it privately to my (Jonathan's) email: [email protected]. These will not be shared publicly but cherished privately by our family as we remember the many ways he impacted others.
In Lieu of Flowers: Should you wish to make a gesture in Ed’s memory, in lieu of flowers, please consider donating to one of two ministries that were very close to his heart:
Thru the Bible (TTB): Ed served faithfully on the TTB board and helped establish its vital ministry in Uganda. Donations: TTB.org or mail to PO Box 7100, Pasadena, CA 91109.
Blue Letter Bible: This Bible study resource was a treasured tool for him. Donations: blueletterbible.org or mail to Blue Letter Bible, PO Box 80670, Rancho Santa Margarita, CA 92688.
Thank you for the love and friendship you shared with Ed. Your support and prayers are deeply appreciated.
Bless you,
Jonathan Anderson and Barbara Anderson

And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you. "²⁶ My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever." (Psalm 73:23-26 ESV)
