Dr. Lewis D. Michaelson's Obituary
Dr. Lewis D. Michaelson of Escondido passed away on March 6, 2013.
He is survived by three children, Kristine, Lewis and John; and six grandchildren. Dr. Mike, as he was known by most, was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Doris; and his oldest daughter, Nancy. Dr. Mike was born in 1924 in Montpelier, Idaho. Near the end of World War II, he met his wife-to-be, Doris and joined the Navy, becoming an amphibious airplane pilot, patrolling for submarines after World War II and during the Korean War. After finishing active duty, Mike started college at the University of Michigan and finished at the University of Utah, where he earned his medical degree. After graduating, the family moved to San Diego County, Dr. Mike built a successful career in La Mesa, serving thousands of patients and four generations of families, first in private practice, and later as a family doctor with the Sharp Rees-Stealy Medic
