Dr. Gordon D. Gibson's Obituary
Dr. Gordon is survived by his brother, Donald Gordon; his children, Linda Werner (Robert); Roger Gibson (Amanda); grandchildren, Aysha Tetro, Tahir Benadbi, Drake Gibson and Dylan Gibson; great grandchildren, Eva Noble and Dakota Petersen. He graduated from Peidmont High School in Piedmont, CA, in 1933, and later attended the California Institute of Technology, the University of California at Berkeley, and the University of Chicago. He received his PhD in Anthropology. He married Bethune Miller of Hackettstown, N.J. in 1938. Between 1958 to 1983 he was Curator of African Anthropology at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. Between 1952 and 1972 he went on four anthropological research expeditions to Botswan
