SHE LOVED BEYOND WORDS
I have been blessed over 25 years to have Kay in my life. We became the closest of friends...calling each other "Kindred Spirits" as we connected in so many ways. I met Kay when she joined my Lunch Bunch bible study, and became a mainstay, helping me out by giving wonderful birthday parties for our ladies using her lovely decorations for each season. We've studied the "Women of Faith" books over the years, and Kay could have written them herself! She was a woman of faith, and brought her sunny smile and passion for her Jesus to our table. When she prayed out loud, we all would automatically say, Hallelujah, Sister!"
When she finally had to drop out due to her deafness, she became my full-time Prayer Warrior and we emailed back and forth daily for years. I always knew that if I had a prayer need, Kay would be praying...often at 5 am in the morning! She was such a faithful friend encouraging me with scripture-filled cards and little gifts. When she became housebound, my husband, Jon and I would go and visit and pick up some of her decorations to use for parties in my home. It was then that our two husbands became good friends too. Her legacy of beautiful decor lives on now in my house as I "inherited" her collection. Right now, it's all done in pink roses---a favorite of hers---which I used recently to decorate at her memorial open house.
Kay never stopped giving as her health declined. Her motto was "Love Beyond Words", and she was a living example of putting her faith into action. Her generosity to us was multiplied to many around her which is reflected by the stories about her which her family members shared with me at her memorial open house. She touched so many lives, and her legacy will live on in her family and friends. It was her main desire was that all her family would know her Jesus, and she was the best representative of someone whose life wasn't easy over the years who took her lead from her Shepherd and found joy in the journey extending grace to all around her. I thank God for giving me Kay!!
Over the last month, I realized I was losing my kindred spirit as Kay's text messages stopped. I got to say goodbye a half an hour before she went on to be Heaven. I still feel her prayers...and see her walking again. Her beautiful singing voice has been restored and she can hear again! On a photo display of her with her Lunch Bunch "sisters" at the memorial, I added a scripture verse from John 10:3: "The sheep hear His voice and He calls them by name and leads them out." I added, "In later years, Kay couldn't hear us, but she always heard her Shepherd...and followed Him right up to heaven." I'll see her sooner than later, and look forward to continuing our long friendship. In the meanwhile, I miss her so, however I I have a sense of peace as I still feel her prayers, and even more so as she is in the presence of God.
Sending loving prayers to her family,
Carol Groseth
