Doris J. Magante (Mitzi) February 1, 1944 – July 10, 2019 San Diego. Doris J. Magante (Mitzi), was 75 years old. She passed on July 10, 2019 surrounded by her family and loved ones at her home on the La Jolla Indian Reservation. She was born February 1, 1944 in San Diego to her parents, John Banegas and Irene Meacham-Burton. Proceeded by death are Son, Donald A. Magante, Sisters, Roberta Gittens, Sylvia Banegas and Brothers Leon Banegas and Larry (Motto) Banegas. Surviving relatives; sisters, Beverly (Doll) Means, Velma Schlater, Diane Bojorquez, Gwendolyn (Booty) Sevella, Linda Sanchez and brother Robert (Fatboy) Banegas. Her children are daughters, Lenora Dee Cline, Angela M. Magante, Veronica Orozco, adopted daughters Sabrina Magante, Samantha Magante, Lynda Lou Magante, Skye Magante and sons, Benjamin A. "Benny" Magante Jr., Carl A. Magante, John J. Subish. adopted sons Abraham Magante, Elvis Magante. She had 27 grandchildren and 65 great-grandchildren. Mitzi was a San Diego Sheriff, All Mission Indian Housing Authority Housing Manager and served many terms as Chairwoman for her tribe the La Jolla Band of Luiseno Indians. Rosary will be held on July 19th starting at 7:00pm at Alhiser-Comer Mortuary in Escondido. Church Mass July 20th starting at 10am at the La Jolla Indian Reservation Gym follow by Cremation Burial at Potero Cemetery, La Jolla Indian Reservation. Traditional clothes burning will be on July 23, 2019 at Mitzi’s home on the La Jolla Indian Reservation starting at dusk.
