A Short Life History of Salvadora Cortez
She was born in Pontezuelas , Michoacan, Mexico on September 22, 1933.
She was the oldest of 8 siblings. Married Agustin Cortez on May 21, 1955, in the Catholic Church and on April 23 in the civil court. (68 years)
Immigrated from Mexico to Bakersfield CA on April 13, 1958, with her 2 young children Gabriel and Lidia. Three more children were born in Bakersfield, Margarita, Rosa Maria, and Augustine Jr.
She worked there cleaning houses and in the fields.
The family moved to San Diego County in June of 1969 where lifelong friendships have endured.
Salvadora worked at Pankey’s roadside fruit stand for 30 years.
All her life she was a member of the Roman Catholic Church and was a proud member of the Legion of Mary and as such was able to take Holy Communion to shut-ins and to residents of nursing homes and lead the Holy Rosary at the viewing for many souls.
Salvadora is the 1st of her siblings to be born into Eternal Life after 89 years on this earth. She left us on May 3, 2023, due to congestive heart failure, peacefully in her sleep.
She is survived by her husband, 5 children, 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and soon to be 19 great grandchildren.
Salvadora’s joys in life were her faith, her family and friends and gardening.

Ella nació en Pontezuelas, Michoacán, México el 22 de septiembre de 1933.
Fue la mayor de 8 hermanos. Se casó con Agustin Cortez el 21 de mayo de 1955 por la iglesia católica, y al civil el 23 de abril. (sí cumplieron los 68 años de casados)
Emigraron de México a Bakersfield California el 13 de abril de 1958 junto con sus dos hijos pequeños, Gabriel y Lidia. Luego nacieron tres más en Bakersfield, Margarita, Rosa Maria y Agustin Jr.
Ella trabajó limpiando casas y en los campos.
La familia se trasladó al condado de San Diego en junio del año 1969 en donde se formaron amistades de toda la vida.
Salvadora trabajó por treinta años en el puesto de fruta de Pankey.
Toda su vida perteneció a la Santa iglesia Católica Romana y en recientes décadas fue miembro de la Legion de Maria y llevaba la santa comunión a los enfermos e iba a rezar el santo rosario para los difuntos en la funeraria.
Salvadora es la primera de sus hermanos que nace a la vida eterna, después de 89 años aquí en la tierra.
Se nos fue el 3 de mayo de 2023. Le falló el corazón, se fue sin dolor y muy tranquilamente.
Sobreviven su esposo, sus 5 hijos, 14 nietos, 17 bisnietos que pronto serán 19 bisnietos.
Las alegrías en la vida de Salvadora eran su fe, su familia y amistades y sus flores.
