Diogenes 'Dodge' K. Galanos' Obituary
Diogenes Kyriakos Galanos was born July 31st,1939 in Gary Indiana to Kyriakos and Sophia Galanos.
“Dodge”, as he was known to all, began his service to his country right out of high school. He was the 2,000th recruit to enlist into the U.S. Army from Gary, Indiana. Dodge served four years ending his
career in the U.S. Army with an Honorable discharge with the rank of Sargent.
Dodge then went on to work over 25 years in Federal Law Enforcement beginning in U.S. Customs with assignments first in Cleveland, Ohio, then in four different border town moves in Texas, ending his time
with U.S. Customs in Chicago, Illinois. With Chicago also came a new assignment in the newly created Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Soon after, Dodge was transferred to DEA headquarters in Washington D.C. Dodge’s last two assignments were in San Diego, California as Special Agent in Charge of the San Diego Field Division and then in Miami, Florida as the Special agent in Charge of the Miami Field Division. Dodge loved his work and the agents that he worked with.
Dodge is survived by his wife of 57 years Katherine Galanos, their four children, MaryAnn Lane (Barry), Sophia Baker, Kevin Galanos, Michael Galanos (Adrianna), and their families which include nine
grandchildren. Dodge is also survived by sister Mary Christofidis (Gust), brother-in-law and sister-in-law Louie and Helen Halkias, and one niece and three nephews.
