Daniel Otto Keller's Obituary
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Daniel Otto Keller, who left us on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at the age of 76. Dan passed away peacefully at his home in Escondido, CA, next to his wife, Linda Keller.
Born on March 12, 1948, in Pipestone, MN, Dan was a man of kindness, strength, and confidence. He was the beloved husband of Marijo Keller for 35 years and Linda Keller for nearly 15 years. Dan was also a devoted father to Daniel P. and his wife Deborah, and Joseph L. and his wife Viki. He was a cherished grandfather to Shayne, Sheyenne, and Kylene and a great-grandfather to Mason, Ezra, and Zachary. Dan was also a wonderful stepfather to Linda’s kids, Kathy and Megan. He was a caring brother to William, Carol, and Betty. Dan cherished all of his family and talked about them often.
Dan was an outdoorsman from day one. He found great joy in spending time out in the garage working on cars and watching his old videos he created throughout the years with family and many friends. He was a part of multiple off-road clubs from Idaho to Colorado. He entered competitions such as off-road hill climbs, sled pulls, and off-road fun weeks, just to name a few, with his beloved 1973 cj5, “Hunny Bucket”. Dan had a knack for pushing the limits while ice racing his race Jeep, “Black Jack” in Colorado in the late 70s to 80s. He loved taking Hunny Bucket, which he re-built by hand, out for a spin and enjoyed many Friday nights at Cruisin’ Grand in Escondido, CA. Dan had not only loved the dirt, he enjoyed the sand and the water. He also loved getting together with his friends, playing rounds of golf, trips to Hawaii and simply enjoying the sun at his pool.
Dan's legacy is one of generosity, love, and humble service, always offering a helping hand and a listening ear. Dan was a rugged outdoorsman with a gentle soul. He had a sharp wit and loved making jokes with his family and friends, reminding us all to have fun and not take life so seriously. His warm smile, hearty laugh, and wise words will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
