Cyril Robert Steele's Obituary
Cyril Robert Steele (02/01/1949 – 04/19/2022) passed away peacefully in his home with his wife by his side on April 19, 2022. Cy was a San Diego County Native who loved woodworking, aerospace, baking, and traveling. In his youth he enjoyed building remote control airplanes and sets for high school plays, along with playing in the St. Augustine high school band. Cy also reached the coveted Eagle Scout rank in Boy Scouts and used his Boy Scout experiences throughout his life. In 1997 he completed his Bachelors in Science degree and he had a distinguished 40-year career with Motorola where he worked closely with the first responders and the armed services to service and implement modern day communication systems. In his retirement he enjoyed building beautiful pieces of woodwork, taking classes at Palomar College for fun, and traveling Europe. He is preceded in death by his Father, Cyril Ronald Steele; Mother, Elizabeth Golombek, and Brother Ronald Steele. He is survived by his wife, Cathy Steele; his children, Jennifer Hanna, David Hartshorn, and Angela Hartshorn; his sister, Karen Steele; his niece and nephew Gina Uyeda, and Dale Steele, along with eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. His presence will be deeply missed by all, and he will never be forgotten. May he rest in peace.
