Collin Michael Barnes' Obituary
Collin Barnes, Born December 15, 1990, in Oceanside California, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Thursday night September 13, 2012. His death has sent a shock wave of grief and disbelief throughout the rural community of Valley Center, affecting the lives of people from pre-school age to senior citizens. His passing has hit hardest among the Juinior High and High School population, many of whom he taught during his tenure as Junior High Pastor at Ridgeview Community Church. However, his influence reaches far beyond that job description. Collin also worked as a pre-school teacher at Ridgeview Church's Preschool and was in integral part of their High School Ministry. During the summers, he led and taught at the Vacation Bible Schools at Ridgeview, as well as teaching and counseling on their Mammoth Mountain Summer camping trips. Collin led and counseled on numerous winter camping trips, ranging from Disneyland to Big Bear and most recently to the inner cities of San Diego and Los Angeles. As if all of this was not enough, he also was a full-time college student at Palomar College, and an avid sports fan, a loyal Chargers Fan. Collin had a lifelong love of Baseball, and his very promising career was cut short by injury. Collin lived a life that mattered. He was a difference-maker. Collin loved Jesus with his whole heart. Collin allowed the love of Jesus Christ to fill him, then he would let it shine on everyone around him, especially our youth. He lived his life at altitude, which is to say, he saw the big picture and understood Collin is survived by his father, Michael Barnes; mother Ellen Barnes and stepfather, Barry Stephan; sister, Nichole Barnes; aunt, Sharon Anderson; uncles, Kyle Starting, Scott Starting, Joseph Starting, Justin Starting and John Paul Starting. He is also In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Collin's name to Ridgeview Church's Collin Barnes Memorial Fund, established to assure Collins dedication to the Youth of Valley Center is not forgotten, and everlasting.
