Cirino "Sid" D'Agosta's Obituary
Cirino "Sid" D'Agosta was born on November 10, 1921 to Alfio and Lucia D'Agosta in New Orleans, LA. In 1931, his family moved to Escondido and lived on Grand Avenue above his father's shoe repair business. He attended Central School and graduated from Escondido High School in 1940.
During WWII, Sid joined and served in the US Navy as a ship fitter. After discharge, he went to school as an apprentice in shoe repair to master the trade he learned from his father. After the war, he and his father opened, D'Agosta's Shoes, a family shoe store on Grand Ave. For many decades, they repaired and put shoes on almost everyone in Escondido and the surrounding area. On February 20, 1949, he married Jennie LaSpesa and they were married for 63 years until her death on May 3, 2012. In 1989, after 40 years in business, Sid retired and he and Jennie traveled to Europe and all over the US including going to Hawaii every y Sid is survived by his daughter and husband, Lucy and Tom Hogan; granddaughter and husband, Tammy and Jake Enriquez; grandson and girlfriend, Zachary Hogan and Holly Johnson; great-granddaughters, Ysabel and Emily Enriquez; sister, Josie Johnston; and bro Donations, in his name, may be made to the Elizabeth Hospice in Escondido.
