Christian H. Friis' Obituary
He was generous, funny, kind and smart. A husband, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and a true friend. He leaves his wife, Joyce; parents, Carol and Chris Friis; sister, Melinda Payne (Keith); nephews, Jordan and Cameron; niece, Krystin; sister-in-law, Jeannette Newell (Bill); Donna Peters; and three nieces and one nephew; his aunt, Jane Norman (Dave); cousins, Gina (Richard) and Tatiana Monetti, Shaunna (Rick) and Ethan, Ryan, Alyssia and Aidan Espinosa; uncle, Gene; and cousin, Sarah Waggoner (Dave); and uncle, Marty van der Goot. Marty shared the love of sailing with Chris. He lost his life to a beastly brain tumor after a short year's battle. His last year was one of hope, treatments, some good times and others that cast dark shadows over his usually upbeat personality. He was born in Santa Barbara, CA in Cottage Hospital For two or three years he worked for Camp Kennolyn in the Santa Cruz Mountains as the water front instructor. He spent a full session with Club Med on the Island of Eleuthra, once again as the sailing instructor. He began a career in sales doing "cold c He loved most people and they loved him, but he had three special loves in his life; his wife, Joyce, his sailboat, and his home. He spent years making his home a unique property along with an eclectic collection of animals and fowl.
