Chien Chang Huang's Obituary
Chien Chang Huang
February 16, 1931 – March 5, 2020
Poway, CA
Chien Chang Huang was born in 1931 in Xi’an, China, the eldest son to I-Ching (neé Liu) Huang and Lin Kuo Huang. After graduating from High School in 1949 he went to Taiwan to study electrical engineering at Tainan College of Engineering (now Cheng Kung National University) in Tainan, Taiwan.
After graduating in 1953 he spent a short time serving in the Chinese Military (Army) and he also worked at an electrical power plant in Sun-Moon Lake in Taiwan before immigrating, in 1950 to America. Here he immediately attended the great University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as a graduate student. After earning a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering in 1959 he found employment in Philadelphia. Here he met Agnes Tsai, who had also recently immigrated from Taiwan. After a short courtship, they were married in 1962, raising their two boys. In 1969 the Huang family of four moved to Cupertino, California where he continued to work as a Senior Staff Engineer. In 1974 they moved to Rancho Bernardo and in 1988 finally relocated to Poway, CA.
Chien had a very long and productive work life, retiring at age 65 after employment with such companies as Sperry, Philco-Ford, Fairchild Semiconductor, Burroughs and Unisys Corporation.
Although Chien did not always fully integrate into American society and culture, he was a proud American Patriot and greatly cherished his Visa and American Citizenship, which he achieved as a young man and new immigrant.
At the time of his death in 2020 he was survived by his younger brother, now deceased. He is currently survived by his younger sister, nieces and nephews, sons Frederick and Lewis, and a granddaughter Allison. He was greatly mourned by his family in 2020 and is still dearly missed by his sons.
Chien, who taught me to love God and appreciate melodies by Mozart, along with his wife Agnes, was always, is always, and will always be my True Best Friend.
