Charlotte (Ann) Jones Brandenberger's Obituary
Charlotte died peacefully in her sleep in the early morning hours of December 12, next to her loving husband of 51 years, Robert L. Brandenberger, who served as her round-the-clock caretaker for the last few years. Charlotte was born in Clifton, AZ to Helen Elizabeth Leland and Bryant Wade Jones, the County Attorney of Greenlee County. During WWII, while her father was in the Army in Europe, Charlotte and her mother lived in Medillin, Colombia SA, where she began her education in a Spanish speaking parochial school. Following the war, she and her parents moved to Yuma, AZ, where her father practiced law. She graduated from Yuma High with honors in 1956. She attended the University of Arizona in Tucson where she received her B.A. in Spanish and was a member and president of Delta Gamma sorority. Charlotte and Bob were married in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Yuma, where they had both been very active members, on August 27, 1960. Following active duty in the Air Force, Bob’s career with Proctor and Gamble took them to Long Beach, CA, Scotch Plains, NJ, Cypress, CA and Cincinnati, OH. Charlotte’s gracious nature and sense of style always made their home comfortable and well appointed and she and Bob were generous hosts, gaining many wonderful friends along the way. Charlotte and Bob have two children and five grandchildren of whom they are justifiably proud: Leann Durant, husband Greg, and children Lindsay and Branden; Wade Brandenberger, wife Amy, along with children Ella, Claire and Will. Upon his retirement in 1 Charlotte was an avid baseball/softball fan, following the exploits of the Padres. Her initial interest in baseball was in attending high school games, first of her sibling and then, especially of her son. Later, she avidly attended the games of her A gathering and Celebration of Life are planned for Friday, December 16, at 11:30 am at Trinity Episcopal Church, 845 Chestnut St., Escondido. A light luncheon for friends and family will precede the service. In lieu of flowers, her family suggests donations to the Elizabeth Hospice which provided her care in the last few months, to the American Red Cross, to the AED Fund at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Fallbrook or to a charity of your choice.
