Charles Donovan Wickliffe's Obituary
Mr. Wickliffe was preceded in death by his wife, Daisy Wickliffe, in 1993; sister Elizabeth Ann Hamilton in 1993 and brother Robert Wickliffe in 2001. He is survived by his son Charles Wickliffe Jr.; daughters Sherry and Wendy Wickliffe; grandsons Scott Grasse, Erik Heleman and Cody Wickliffe; great grandson - Aiden Donovan Wickliffe. He served in World War II as a fighter pilot with the 9th Air Force flying P38s and Pt51s. He flew 77 combat missions and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, The Air Medal with 12 oak leaves, four battle stars, and a World War II Victory Medal, t He attended the University of Louisville Medical School, where he received his medical degree. He was a medical doctor for 42 years. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. In 1962, he and his brother and father built the Escondido Medical Center.
