Charles D. Darland's Obituary
Mr. Darland is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Jean Darland and their children, Faith, Caudia, Mike, John and Jesse; son-in-law David Jonas; grandchildren Dennis, Tami, Kristina, Michael and Trevor; three precious great granddaughters; and sister Doris Brockmann. He joined the U.S. Navy and proudly served aboard the USS Mt. McKinley. The Navy brought him to San Diego, where he met his bride Jean, and stayed to raise their family He was born in Indian Creek Township, Mill County, Iowa, to "Lester" and Gladys Darland, he grew up in Iowa on the family farm, and graduated from Glenwood High School. He was a successful businessman who owned several businesses. Both the Church and Elizabeth Hospice were of great support and care during his illness.
