Charles Michael Neumann's Obituary
Charles Michael Neumann, age 85, passed away May 6, 2023, at his home in Escondido, California from complications of dialysis and cancer. Mike was born in Detroit Michigan, moving to Saginaw Michigan with his father and two brothers after sadly losing his mother at the age of 11. His father remarried and his family grew from 3 children to 8 children. He adored his stepmother and their lives become chaotic as expected with seven school age children under one roof learning about each other and themselves. His oldest sister was just beginning her own married life. After high school graduation Mike proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force where ultimately, he was stationed in Riverside, California. There he would meet his future wife, Joan. Upon discharge from the Air Force Mike continued pursing his formal education graduating from California State University, San Bernardino with a degree in Business Administration. Mike worked for General Dynamics, Xerox and BAE Systems as Director of Estimating. He loved spending family time, traveling, golf, reading and music and was a proud supporter of The San Diego Zoo and The Old Globe, San Diego.
Mike leaves behind his two greatest loves, wife Joan and daughter Melissa, his brothers Dennis Neumann (Susan), Joseph Flora (Christine) and brother-in-law Russ Kahler, nephews Jim Neumann (Joanne), Mark Neumann (Collette), Mike Neumann (Mary Ann), John Neumann, Doug Neumann (Alicia), Kurt Neumann (Kimberly), Ronald Flora, Stephen Flora, Peter Flora, David Flora (Julia), Rick Rivard, Dr. Kelly Morgan, Ken Pagel (Jennifer) Nieces Karly Leary (John Richardson), Shelly Kahler (Karen Heizer), Jill Hill and many grand and great grand nieces and nephews.
Mike was predeceased by his mother Violet Rose Neumann, father Wesley George Neumann and mother Francis Neumann, sisters Joyce Maul (Jack), Mary Ann Morrison (Hugh), Donna Jean Kahler, brothers Wesley Neumann (Margaret), James Flora, Nieces Donna Walton, Nephews Jack Maul and James Maul.
Alhiser-Comer Mortuary is providing cremation services for Mike. His obituary can be found on their website. A Celebration of Life is being planned for early to mid-June. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance.
