Charlene Douvier's Obituary
Charlene Isabel Roles Douvier - mother, wife, daughter, and friend to everyone she ever met - passed away in her sleep, surrounded by love and people who loved her, on July 11, 2022.
Charlene was a true San Diegan, born to Isabel Colòn and Charles (Chuck) Roles at Sharp Medical Center on August 7, 1972. From a young age, Charlene was a smart, independent and passionate person. She loved art, music, dance, and all things colorful and beautiful, including people. Graduating high school at 16, she started working at Sony to put herself through school. Not long after, she met the love of her life: a young Navy sailor named Paul. The next 30 years brought more family, friends, Navy family, and love into their lives than they could have ever imagined. She went on to raise her wonderful three children – Harley, Dawson and Raylee – and helped to raise her beloved foster children – Isis and Alyssa – and took in countless children and people in need whenever life called her to help, all alongside her soulmate, Paul. Their beautiful life and endlessly loving marriage included four cross-country moves, 10 houses, 6 dogs and more cars than they could count.
Charlene devoted her life to making people smile. She made an instant connection with everyone she ever met, lighting up a room in a way that most people could only imagine. It wasn’t just a light, it was the aurora borealis. She was sunshine on a rainy day. She was a sunflower in a field of waving golden grain.
Charlene was a feisty, charismatic, country-singing, speed-racing, doesn’t-take-no-shit-from-no-one kind of spicy Puerto Rican Leo Navy wife. She was the best listener, and the best interrupter – she was the best cook, and had the absolute best sense of humor. We are all better people just for having known her. It was her hard work and forgiving personality that brought so many people together every single day, and will continue to bring people together forever, in her own special way.
Charlene’s “favorite ultimate lifetime philosophy quote “No matter what you’re going through in your life, somebody always seems to be going through worse. They can crawl through a pure hell, shit storm and come up smelling like roses miles ahead of you.
This is all a part of our circle of life and we are ALL part of that circle. So pick your chin up, keep your head held high and own that part of your circle with every fiber of your being. I honestly hope all of my unique, beautiful children will get to experience the unconditional, eternal love that I have been so blessed to have had in my wonderful life.
Sincerely and Respectively,
Charlene Isabel Roles Douvier
