Carol Jean MacPhee's Obituary
On Friday, April 12, 2024, Carol Jean MacPhee passed away in her Escondido, CA, home. Her husband and children by her side.
Carol was born January 22, 1941, in Wichita, Kansas, to Homer and Opal Foiles. Childhood adventures on her grandparent’s farm harvesting produce, milking cows, and being her beloved grandfather’s shadow were her cherished memories. Homer’s work with the railroad moved the family to Oceanside, CA where Carol attended Oceanside High School.
As a young woman she met and married her husband and best friend, Harold MacPhee. They raised 3 children, had 5 grandchildren and delighted in their 3 great grandchildren.
Harold and Carol enjoyed many adventures including camping trips, kayaking Mission Bay, cross country RV treks, and cruise excursions to see sights in the Caribbean Alaska, and Hawaii. They contributed to their community as active members of community watch program, worked Del Mar Fairgrounds special events including the San Diego County Fair and operating the Scream Zone hayrides. For many years they served as camp hosts in Julian and Ramona, CA, state parks.
Together, under Carol’s direction, the two created beautiful landscaping around their home including bountiful fruit trees, sweet cherry tomato gardens, abundant blossoming flowers, and lush ferns. Carol was happiest barefoot in her backyard on a warm day surrounded by her family.
Carol is survived by her husband, daughter, Penny Williams, and son, Gary MacPhee (Ellen MacPhee), granddaughter Heather Curran (Patrick Curran), USCG Chief Petty Officer Ben MacPhee (Alexxa Pritchett), Aaron Williams (Danielle Williams), Trevor Williams and great grandchildren Devan, Logyn, and Josephine. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Debbie Hilty, brother, Wayne Foiles, son-in-law, Rick Williams and granddaughter, Rachel Irene MacPhee.
