CARL EDWARD VANN

Carl E. Vann, 90, of Escondido, California, entered into God’s Kingdom on December 26th 2023.
He was born October 5, 1933 in Anniston, Alabama to Fred and Wille Vann.
Carl, the most loving and devoted Father, and Grandfather is survived by his 2 sisters, Mary Haile, Barbara Vann of Ft. Worth, Texas, brother, James Vann. 5 children, Butch Vann of Ft. Worth, Texas, Karen Sapp, Robyn Vann of Draper, Virginia, Debbie Klingensmith and Marcia Vann Owens of Escondido, CA, and several grandchildren.
Carl attended Anniston High School in Alabama. While in the Navy he also attended Jacksonville State College, Polytechnic Institute, Arlington State College.
Carl joined the Navy in 1950 to serve his country for 21 years, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer Corpsman in January 1971. He served in the Korean War and 2 tours in Vietnam. During his years of service, he received many distinguished medals, honors, and commendations, including a purple heart.
After his Military service, he worked for Tri City Hospital as the Surgical Supply Coordinator, and then at North County Surgery Center. Carl was an avid bowler for many years, with numerous awards, pins, and patches.
Carl was a great man of true integrity. He would not budge under any circumstances. He was always very loyal and true. He was a humble man, focusing on providing his children the best life possible.
Carl was truly a great man whose impact will be forever felt by his family, who loves him dearly. He was a selfless man whose passing has left an unfillable gap in the hearts of his loved ones. His ability to sacrifice, provide, support, forgive and love will be forever engrained in our hearts.
A Memorial service will take place January 10th 2024 at 11.15 AM at Miramar National Cemetery.
